Complex litigation investigations. 300+ cases. 24 industries. One standard.

Practice Area

Evidence for cases that turn on what a company knew, and when.

Integra Intelligence conducts investigations for attorneys litigating securities fraud, antitrust, qui tam, shareholder derivative and consumer class actions in U.S. federal courts. Since 2016 the firm has worked more than 300 complex litigation matters for counsel across the United States.

Qui tam and False Claims Act matters have their own page: what we do for relator's counsel before and after the seal →

The work is the same in every industry: identify the former employees, customers, distributors and regulators who saw what happened; find them; interview them; and deliver memoranda that plead, survive a motion to dismiss and stand up at deposition. Every interview is documented for use under Rule 11 and the heightened pleading standards of the PSLRA.

How we work

From complaint to cooperating witness.

01

Case mapping

We read the filings, the earnings calls and the SEC record, then build a list of the roles inside the company that would have known the facts at issue: who ran the trial, who booked the revenue, who filed the claims.

02

Witness identification and location

Using public records, corporate filings, litigation databases and open-source intelligence, we identify the former employees, customers and counterparties who held those roles during the class period and locate current contact information for each.

03

Interviews

Licensed investigators conduct the interviews. We identify ourselves, we do not misrepresent who we work for, and we do not contact represented parties. Witnesses are told how their information may be used.

04

Memoranda and support through trial

Each interview becomes a memorandum written for pleading: dates, titles, specific facts and the basis for the witness's knowledge. We remain available for follow-up, declarations and re-contact through class certification, summary judgment and trial.

Questions

What attorneys ask before they retain us.

What is a complex litigation investigator?

A licensed private investigator who works for law firms on large civil cases: securities fraud, antitrust, qui tam and class actions. The investigator identifies and interviews witnesses, gathers public records and produces written memoranda that counsel can rely on in pleadings and discovery.

Do you work for plaintiffs or defendants?

Both. Most of our federal-court work has been for plaintiffs' firms in securities and qui tam matters, and we also investigate for defense counsel. We run conflict checks before every engagement.

Which courts and jurisdictions do you cover?

Integra Intelligence is licensed in Washington and based in Seattle. Witness location and interviews are conducted nationwide, and we coordinate with vetted local investigators abroad when a case requires it.

How do you handle confidential witnesses under the PSLRA?

Each memorandum records the witness's title, dates of employment and the basis for their knowledge, so counsel can plead with the particularity the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act requires. We keep witness identities confidential and preserve our notes and contact history. The goal during every interview: establish scienter by tying wrongdoing to the top of the corporate hierarchy.

What do you need from us to start?

The complaint or a draft, the class period, the defendants and any counsel of record, and the theories you want to test. We return a witness map, question template, and interview memoranda on the schedule your pleading deadline sets.

Who does the work?

Lael Henterly, CLI, CII, agency principal, leads the investigative team on every matter. She has been a licensed Washington private investigator since 2016, is a Certified Legal Investigator through NALI, a member of the Council of International Investigators, president of the Washington Association of Legal Investigators and a former adjunct instructor in civil-litigation investigations at the University of Washington. In 2025 The Legal Investigator published her white paper on the investigator's role in litigation under the PSLRA.
