OSINT investigations. Public sources, read by people who know what to look for.

Practice Area

Most of what matters about a person or a company is already public. We find it.

Open-source intelligence (OSINT) is the disciplined collection and analysis of publicly available information: court records, corporate and UCC filings, property records, regulatory actions, news archives, social media, domain and breach data, and the connections among them.

Integra Intelligence holds the OSMOSIS open-source intelligence certification and applies it to litigation support, due diligence, asset searches and skip tracing. Every finding is sourced and preserved so it can be reproduced, cited and, where needed, authenticated.

Services

What an OSINT engagement produces.

Person profiles

Identity resolution, addresses and associates, employment and licensing history, litigation and criminal records, regulatory actions, social media and online presence, assembled into a single sourced profile.

Corporate mapping

Ownership and control across entities, officers and registered agents, affiliated companies, UCC filings, liens, judgments and litigation history, drawn as a link chart.

Witness identification and location

Former employees, customers and counterparties identified from filings, professional networks and archives, with current contact information for interview or service.

Digital footprint and online evidence

Social media, forums, domains, archived web pages and leaked-data references, captured with hashes and timestamps for authentication.

Scam and fraud tracing

Investment, romance and business-email-compromise schemes traced from the first contact to the accounts, domains and people behind them, for victims, counsel and law enforcement referral.

Monitoring

Ongoing watch on litigants, executives, counterparties or subjects of a protective order, with alerts on new filings, sanctions, news and online activity.

Questions

Common questions about OSINT.

What is OSINT?

Open-source intelligence is information collected from publicly available sources and analyzed to answer a specific question. Public does not mean easy to find: much of it sits in county recorders' offices, federal dockets, state licensing boards and archived web pages that general search engines do not index.

Is it legal?

Yes, when done properly. We do not access private accounts, use false identities to obtain information, or pull regulated data without a permissible purpose under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Driver's Privacy Protection Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. We adhere to the principals outlined in the Berkeley Protocol on Digital Open Source Investigations.

Can the results be used in court?

Findings are documented with the source, the date of capture and, for online material, a preserved copy and hash, so counsel can authenticate them. We testify to methods when required.

How is this different from a background check?

A database background check returns whatever a data broker has aggregated. An OSINT investigation starts with a question, goes to primary sources, resolves conflicts between them and explains what the record shows and what it does not.

Who uses it?

Litigators, investors vetting a counterparty, heirs and estates looking for people or property, and individuals who have been defrauded and need to know who took their money. Some clients hire us to assess their own digital footprint before running for office or applying for a sensitive post.
